It’s time Detox again?

Need to Detox? As the Christmas period slowly comes to its final week, its likely you are considering detoxing or at least reducing the amount of calories, you have been consuming during the last few days or even weeks.

Contrary to belief of this yearly ritual, it is quite possible to do nothing as drastic, as I will explain shortly. Normally one will do a detox diet that involved at least one of the following:

  • Fasting for 1–3 days or even longer.
  • Drinking only fresh fruit and vegetable juices, smoothies, water and tea.
  • Drinking only specific liquids, such a salted water or lemon juice.
  • Eliminating foods high in heavy metals, contaminants and allergens.
  • Taking supplements or herbs.
  • Avoiding all allergenic foods, and then slowly reintroducing them.
  • Using laxatives, colon cleanses or enemas.
  • Exercising more regularly than ever.
  • Completely eliminating alcohol, coffee, cigarettes and refined sugar
  • Having extreme bouts of saunas and or steam room visits.

Now many of these pointers above are good for you but… your body is more than capable of getting your body detoxified, daily.

The liver main responsibility is to do just that and the best ways you can assist that very busy organ is for you to include:

  • Avoiding heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants.
  • Eliminating “toxins” from body fat by losing excessive fat.
  • Exercising and sweating regularly.
  • Eating whole, nutritious and healthy foods.
  • Avoiding processed foods.
  • Avoiding over consumption of food (calories)
  • Drinking water and green tea.
  • Limiting stress and getting good sleep.

By following, these simple guidelines you will in see and feel a general improvement in your overall health and well-being.
